Tyre Review: Bridgestone Turanza T005

European Roots

Bridgestone Turanza T005 is the latest addition to the premium segment of touring car tyres in the European market. This tyre was developed and produced in Europe to offer European drivers full control in challenging daily situations, particularly on wet days.

The T005 initially launched in 2018, and by 2019 it was available in over 140 different tyre sizes for 14″ – 21″ rims. Along with the Bridgestone DriveGuard, Turanza T005 is offering a complete range of touring tyre sizes.

Best In Class For Braking

The Turanza T005 has a stopping distance of 3m shorter* than an average competitor tyre in a premium brand. The  German TUV SUD test results had proven Bridgestone braking better than rival Pirelli, Michelin, Continental and Goodyear tyres.

These were the test results when 205 55 r16 tyres were tested on a VW Golf Mark7:

  • 26.2 meters – Bridgestone Turanza T005
  • 27.8 meters – Michelin Primacy 4
  • 29.1 meters – Continental Premium Contact 5
  • 30.0 meters – Pirelli Cinturato P7
  • 30.1 meters – Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance

Improved Cornering

As the second part of the test mentioned above, the same tyres were tested for the best grip when cornering at speed. Once again, Bridgestone Turanza T005 ranked the highest, proving to be the best-handling tyre in the European touring market at the time. (This time the higher the score – the better)

  • 6.68 – Bridgestone Turanza T005
  • 6.38 – Michelin Primacy 4
  • 6.37 – Continental Premium Contact 5
  • 6.27 – Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance
  • 6.15 – Pirelli Cinturato P7

Customer Feedback

As part of the research, we looked at the independent UK tyre review website for customer feedback on the T005s. It seems like the grip on wet and dry roads is the most impressive detail about this tyre. Both wet and dry grip received a staggering 90% rating (100% is the max vote). Road feedback and comport followed right behind with 87% and 86% support.

Tyre wear was the lowest-ranked item on the chart with 80% rating. While 80% is the lowest for the Turanza T005, it is still a great result as many known brands can be stuck on 60-70% ratings.

Lastly, 81% of drivers said that they would repurchase Bridgestone Turanza T005 in the future.
